What is National Honor Society?
The National Honor Society recognizes and encourages academic achievement while also encouraging the development of leadership, character and service to the community - school, local and regional. We are very proud of our student leaders and their demonstration of excellence.
What's so great about NHS?
The National Honor Society doesn't just look good on applications. It also provides students with volunteer opportunities and helps students to develop their leadership skills. By placing more responsibility on the students, the students gain professional skills including public speaking, organization, and teamwork. The students learn to establish a good work ethic by helping their community.
Meetings are held twice a month with opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and service presented at most meetings. Meetings are held after school.
How do I apply to be accepted into NHS?
NHS members are selected based upon their GPA and their first two years of high school. They must be a Junior or Senior in high school. Acceptance is based on community service, character, and leadership.
The T. J. Connor Chapter of the National Honor Society participates in a variety of activities each year. Events that the students have participated in the past include:
o Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Rochester, NY
o Al Sigl Halloween Walk About, Eastview Mall, Victor, NY
o Fall Inductions
o Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, Various locations
o Salvation Army Holiday Toy Shop, Rochester, NY
o CP Rochester Run for Fun (Volunteers), Henrietta, NY
o "Teacher of Excellence" Award MS/HS
