The Middle School Art Curriculum is based upon New York State and National Standards for the Visual Arts. Each unit is designed to engage students by offering opportunities for artistic expression and media exploration. Emphasis is placed on the use of art elements and principles to create a successful piece. Units are brought to close with students assessing their progress towards the learning targets through group critiques.
Seventh grade units focus on the importance of color in artwork. Students learn to recognize and apply a variety of color schemes in their work. Students gain a working knowledge of how to create value using tints and shades of a color.
