Instructional Coaching Program

  • The Instructional Coaching Program is professional development that provides teachers with peer coaching to improve their teaching practice based on the components in Danielson’s Annual Professional Performance Review Framework. This voluntary professional development opportunity is available for all teachers for professional growth, and may also be used as a strategy for support as part of a Teacher Improvement Plan if desired.

     

    Instructional Participants and Coaches will engage in this professional development opportunity for up to one semester within the school year; however, the experience can be for less time depending on the interests of the participants.

     

    The Instructional Coaching experience includes the following for Participants:

    -          Participate in up to ten in-service hours per semester for coaching that occurs outside of the school day.

     

    -          Use up to four half-days of release time per semester to participate in non-evaluative learning walks with an Instructional Coach, participate in follow-up discussions, and/or research effective teaching strategies.  

     

    -          Write a reflection about your participation in the Instructional Coaching Program upon completion.

     

     

    The Instructional Coaching experience includes the following for Instructional Coaches:

    -          Provide non-evaluative support to teachers who are approved for Instructional coaching support (in-service rate for up to ten hours per coaching participant per semester will be paid for coaching support that occurs outside of the school day). 

     

    -          Participate in Teacher Center sponsored Instructional Coaching orientation courses held in the summer and throughout the school year (in-service rate will be paid for workshop participation that occurs outside of the school day).

     

    -          Use up to four half-days of release time to conduct learning walks in an Instructional Partner’s classroom, participate in follow-up discussions, and/or research effective teaching strategies.  

     

    -          Write a reflection about your Instructional coaching experience after each coaching experience.
