Mrs. Kathleen Mathewson
Welcome to Mrs. Mathewson's classroom page!
Currently, I teach Math 7 and PLTW Computer Integrated Manufacturing. Seventh grade students will learn NYS Next Generation Math 7 curriculum which aligns to NYS standards to ensure they are prepared for the NYS Math 7 exam given in the Spring.
CIM students will learn and apply PLTW curriculum to ensure they are prepared for an End of Course assessment given in June. Students are also eligible to earn and pay for RIT credit depending on the result of their EOC assessment.
All students have an opportunity to be successful. Looking forward to a great year!
Also, I taught Algebra I and PLTW Teacher for Principles of Engineering. Passing Algebra I is required for high school graduation. The content and standards associated with Common Core Algebra I are based on the NYS Common Core (CC) Learning Standards for Mathematics. CC Algebra I is organized within four conceptual categories: Algebra, Functions, Number & Quantity, and Statistics & Probability.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM):
Manufactured items are part of everyday life, yet most students have not been introduced to the high-tech, innovative nature of modern manufacturing. This course illuminates the opportunities related to understanding manufacturing. At the same time, it teaches students about manufacturing processes, product design, robotics, and automation. Students can earn a virtual manufacturing badge recognized by the National Manufacturing Badge system.
Principles of Engineering (POE):
Explore how modern engineers are helping improve the world through diverse engineering fields such
as product design, robotics, mechanical design, infrastructure, and sustainability. Learn the principles of
engineering as well as the cutting-edge tools of robotics, 3-D modeling, programming, and prototyping that
engineers are using to solve problems today and for the future!
