Miss Alexis Waite

My name is Alexis Waite and I am excited to be your child’s classroom teacher this year. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in both early childhood and childhood education from SUNY Geneseo, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in literacy through SUNY Oneonta online. Prior to teaching kindergarten, taught both PreK for 2 1/2 years. This is my second year teaching kindergarten at TJC! Primary grades are definitely my happy place and I am a huge advocate for developmentally appropriate, hands-on, and play-based learning, a belief that is reflected daily in my classroom. I am a HUGE fan of getting kids out of their seats and working on the rug, outside, and in small groups to make learning more engaging while also working on social skills and character development. In addition to teaching at the school, I also teach dance classes to children ages 18 months to 18 years at Stilla Dance right on Main Street in Scottsville.
