Mr. Derrick Biehl
This is my 6th year teaching Elementary Physical Education, but my 1st year at TJ Connor!
A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Franklinville, New York. I obtained my bachelor's degree and teaching certificate in K-12 Physical Education at the college of Brockport. After graduation, I did 1 year of service work with AmeriCorps NCCC. With AmeriCorps NCCC I was able to travel and work with non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity, Children's Hospitals, and Community Development Associations throughout the Southwestern United States. Afterwards, I decided to work for another AmeriCorps program called ABLE (AmeriCorps Builds Lives through Education) where I taught as a 3rd grade Teaching Assistant in Inner City Buffalo. That following year, I moved to Chicago, Illinois and obtained my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, and taught Elementary P.E. in the Suburbs. Finally, I have found my home here in Rochester, and am ecstatic to be at TJC teaching your students how to become Physically Literate Movers.
One of my most proud accomplishments was during the 2018-2019 school year, where I was fortunate enough to be nominated and win the Northeastern Iistrict of IAHPERD's Young Professional of the Year. I also present, and would consider myself a bit of a P.E. Geek.
I am extremely excited about having another fantastic year here at TJ Connor, and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by email: derrick_biehl@wheatland.k12.ny.us
Sincerely,
Mr. Biehl
