At a recent Wildcat Ways Assembly, T. J. Connor students learned about the importance of kindness and how to give and accept complements. Over the next few weeks students will be receiving "Caught You Being Kind" notes whenever a staff member notices a student demonstrating kindness. Staff members also led students through activities to help them understand mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. There is scientific evidence that shows that developing mindfulness in children will improve their attention, emotional regulation, adaptability, compassion, calming and resilience (mindfulschools.org). Students truly enjoyed this assembly.
