District releases statement regarding arrest of former substitute teacher

The District has released the following statements regarding the arrest of a former substitute teacher. Click here for the news release from the Monroe County Sheriffs' Office.

 

"The District was just contacted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department notifying us that a former substitute teacher that was employed by the District for 11 days during the 2022-2023 school year has been arrested following an investigation completed by the Sheriff’s Department.  The District initiated this investigation in March 2023 when it was notified of allegations against the individual. As soon as the District learned of the allegations, the individual was released from duties with the District. The District will cooperate with any further investigation and proceedings in this matter to the fullest extent possible. Our primary concern is always for the health, safety and well-being of our students."

 

Follow-up statement:

 

"The District immediately notified law enforcement authorities when it learned of the allegations.  Until today, we had not received further information about their investigation. Had we been able to or asked to share the information prior to today, we certainly would have done so. If you have concerns about your own child, you should contact the MCSO at 585-753-4840."
