High School Student Artwork on display at the Bevier Gallery

Art teacher Val Savage selected the artwork of Allissa Merritt and Nissa Burch to be in the Start Here 2019 High School/Middle School Art Exhibition. Start Here 2019 is an invitational exhibition featuring work from students in the high school and middle school programs of the Rochester and Finger Lakes region. Nissa's work, Broken Sound, is a charcoal drawing of her flute focused on the concept of forgotten items. Her drawing shows details of peeling paint while also paying attention to the sentimental value of the flute through the use of placement in the composition. Allissa's digital media piece, Drowning In My Emotions, is the result of a series of self-portraits manipulated and placed together as she explored how an artist can capture personal thoughts and feelings. The exhibit held in the Bevier Gallery on the RIT campus can be viewed from January 18 - February 2. An opening was held for the artists and their families on January 18.
