District Accountability

 

New York State is required by the United States Department of Education to identify low performing schools.  This identification is based on test results from the annual grades three through eight and Regents assessments in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, as well as chronic absenteeism (absent 10% or more).  For high schools, the identification also includes social studies, graduation rates, and a new measure of college, career, and civic readiness.  Student participation in the three through eight assessments is a factor in the identification where participation is less than 95%.

 

The accountability status of our schools and District is as follows:

 

T. J. Connor Elementary School – Good Standing 2018-2019, Potential Targeted Support and Improvement School 2019-2020

Middle/High School – Good Standing

Wheatland-Chili Central School District – Target District

Our identification as a Target District relates to the performance of a small subgroup of our students (21 students) in grades three through five who sat for the assessments in English Language Arts and Math in 2017-2018.  This District designation results from the potential designation for T. J. Connor in 2019-2020.

 

We have worked over the past years to support all of our students toward higher performance and will continue to do so.  All struggling students are supported through our strategic Response to Intervention Plan including academic and social and emotional support.  Students receive intensive individual interventions based on their needs.
